Remembrance Day saw the children demonstrating their respect for those who lost their lives through conflict. Some children chose to make poppies to wear during our two minutes silence. We talked about other ways to show respect and the emotions that we felt too.

Welcome back to Autumn term 2! We have had a super first week in Daisy Class and the children have been working very hard. In Maths, we have begun adding numbers together to find a total and have been writing addition number sentences to represent objects and pictures. The children have done a great job!

Today, Year 3 had a visit from the Fire & Rescue department. We learnt about keeping safe when crossing the road, including how to cross a road and what best to wear when out and about. The class learnt the names of the different types of crossing found on roads and highways. There are six in total. Can you name them all?

This week, we have focused out literacy learning around Remembrance Day. The children have studied the poem ‘Flanders Field’ and have written their own response poems to those who lost their lives. We were also presented with a fantastic opportunity and as a class we got to watch an “In The Net” production play. This play built on the children’s growing knowledge of internet safety whilst ensuring it was fun and interactive.

I am always impressed by the effort which is placed on producing homework in Year 6. As part of our 'Victorian' topic, one of our pupils produced an absolutely scrumptious Victoria Sponge Cake. Thank you, we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
