Angel Class! Welcome back to a new year, a new term and a new class donkey! We have adopted Angel and have named our class after her. If you would like to meet Angel, pop along to the Donkey Sanctuary where you can meet, groom and adopt donkeys who are being expertly looked after by the team.

Here we are with Jeff the fireman from Newport. He came to give us a safety talk about fire. He told us about smoke alarms and how important they are. We watched a safety video and played some fun games about fire equipment. Thank you Jeff for a fun safety talk.

This morning, Year 3 went on a walk along the cycle track. We were looking for different types of bird which links to the RSPB Big Schools' Birdwatch. In pairs, the children had to use a tally chart to record their findings. We will now input out results onto the RSPB website.

This week, we have focused out literacy learning around Remembrance Day. The children have studied the poem ‘Flanders Field’ and have written their own response poems to those who lost their lives. We were also presented with a fantastic opportunity and as a class we got to watch an “In The Net” production play. This play built on the children’s growing knowledge of internet safety whilst ensuring it was fun and interactive.

Last week, we were treated to a fabulous pantomime performance by M&M Productions of Robin Hood. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and will be using this as a stimulus for our next English learning journey. Year 6 will be producing their own myth or legend. Today we discussed and planned the hero and villain which we will include within our stories. I was incredibly impressed by the expanded noun phrases and figurative language used to describe their characters and am really looking forward to reading their finished narratives. Mrs Wilkinson.
